This approved WorkCover course is designed for those who had completed the previous 4 day course and are looking at becoming Health and Safety Representatives under the new WHS Act 2011.
The role of an HSRs is to facilitate the flow of information about health and safety between the person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU - the new term that includes employers) and the workers in their work group.
If you have not completed the former four-day WorkCover course in OHS Consultation you must complete the 5 day HSR course.
The course will provide deemed HSRs with additional information and skills required for HSRs under
the new WHS legislation including:

an understanding of the new Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation;
- an understanding of how it applies to their role as elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSR); and
- the additional knowledge and skills necessary to use their new powers under the new WHS legislation in issuing Provisional Improvement Notices and directing unsafe work to cease.
